Keeping Babe's Diner Online

📄 What We Did:

Babe's Diner contacted HarborHaus during an emergency internet outage that disrupted critical restaurant operations. What began as an outage response quickly revealed broader infrastructure challenges, including a single shared network supporting POS systems, Sonos audio, staff devices, and guest Wi-Fi, an improperly configured failover connection, and inadequate cellular backup coverage.

HarborHaus immediately restored connectivity through a temporary solution while coordinating restoration of the primary Optimum service. Once operations were stabilized, we redesigned the restaurant's entire network infrastructure to improve reliability, security, and business continuity.

Key improvements included:
• Restoration of primary internet service and migration to a static IP configuration
• Replacement of legacy networking equipment with a UniFi Dream Router 5G Max
• Deployment of Verizon 5G automatic failover connectivity
• Separation of a single shared network into three dedicated networks:

POS / House Network (business systems and Sonos)
Team Network
Guest Wi-Fi Network
• Network segmentation to improve security, performance, and PCI compliance
• Centralized monitoring of internet connectivity, equipment health, and failover readiness
• Ongoing managed network oversight and business continuity monitoring

The result is a modern, business-grade network and Wi-Fi infrastructure designed specifically for restaurant operations, providing greater reliability, improved security, and uninterrupted connectivity for payment processing, online ordering, staff operations, and guest access.
