NYC Townhouse AV & Network Transformation

📄 What We Did:

Project Overview

We were brought in by an existing Hamptons client to modernize their 6-story townhouse in Chelsea — a home that had lived for years with broken systems and over-engineered complexity.
Music hadn’t worked in years due to an inoperable Crestron setup. Several TVs were tied into a partial Control4 system: the homeowner had to power the TV on with the TV’s own remote, but then select content using the Control4 remote. The daily experience was exactly what they disliked: complicated, expensive, and unnecessary.
Wi-Fi coverage was even worse — only two aging access points were serving six floors, leaving entire areas of the home with weak or nonexistent signal.
The home also had a standalone NVR and a patchwork of outdated AV equipment that had grown over time.
The mission: simplify everything, rebuild the network from scratch, install a clean and powerful audio system, and bring streaming and security up to 2025 standards.

What We Did
System Removal & Cleanup
• Removed all legacy Crestron, Control4, AV components, standalone NVR, network switches, patch panels, and wiring
• Eliminated obsolete audio matrices and control processors
• Removed the incomplete Control4 TV integration so every room could operate consistently and intuitively

Network & Wi-Fi Overhaul
• Installed UniFi Dream Machine Pro as the new network core
• Added a Switch Pro 48 PoE for high-capacity distribution across six floors
• Installed Switch Flex units for remote locations
• Deployed 8 UniFi U7 Pro / U7 Pro Wall Wi-Fi 7 access points for seamless whole-home coverage
• Added UniFi G6 Instant, G6 Pro 360, and G5 Turret Ultra cameras for full-property visibility
• Completely rewired and rebuilt the network infrastructure for reliability and clarity

Audio Upgrade — Music in Every Room Again
• Installed 4 Sonos Amps to power built-in speakers throughout the home
• Added 3 Sonos Ports, feeding into a new Soundavo MZ-1650S 16-channel amplifier for clean multi-zone distribution

Television & Media Refresh
• Installed 43" Q8F QLED and 55" Q8F QLED Samsung displays
• Installed a 65" Samsung QN90F Neo QLED, wall-mounted with a full-motion bracket
• No more mixing TV remote + Control4 remote — just one elegant system

Outcome
The townhouse now features:
• Flawless Wi-Fi on every floor, including stairwells, basement, and rooftop patio
• A fully unified Sonos-based audio system
• 4K camera coverage, recorded to UniFi Protect with a 16 TB drive
• A clean, professional-grade networking rack replacing years of outdated AV gear
• No more Crestron. No more Control4 complexity.
• A simple, app-driven home that “just works.”

Result
A six-story New York City townhouse transformed from over-engineered chaos into a clean, modern, powerful, and intuitive HarborHaus system — bringing music, streaming, and connectivity back to the heart of the home.
